Progress Reports and Other Information

Wild about Math
We are having a great time in math! I hope the kids are having as much fun as I am. Just a reminder that Tuesday students will have math homework. Also Thursday will our our weekly vocabulary test and Friday students are working on increase their personal time on multiplication facts. So it will be another busy week.
We are learning about addition and subtraction of decimals. Don't forget that math is all around us. It is a great idea to have students look at math with you. How can you do this?
Have students look at the weekly ads and make a list of items, add them together and subtract from a budgeted amount. When you go out to eat, have them estimate the cost, or as you are picking up a few groceries, have them estimate the amount and see how close they are when you check out.

First Week
What a great and exciting week it has been in fifth grade! We did some
fun getting to know each other activities the first two day. Wednesday we started
right into our daily schedule. The kids have
been awesome!
In math we are reviewing and learning more about place value. Don't forget Monday
night is homework night in math. Thursday will
be out first vocabulary test. And Friday we will have a quick multiplication timed test
In social studies we have been working on basic map skills. Soon we will start learning about The 13 Colonies
So has you can see we are going to be busy but we will also be having fun while learning!
